RIP Senn Alumnus ‘Michael Kiichiro Otake’ – class of 1983

 

Remember Senn Alumnus 'Michael Kiichiro Otake' - class of 1983. Mike Otake, one of the original Senn Friends Forever Alumni Committee Staff members, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 23, 2024.  

 

 

 

 

 

One of four children of John Otake and Yuriko Morioka, Mike was born on October 20, 1965, in Chicago, Illinois. 

 

 

 

 

 

Mike graduated from Stephen K. Hayt Grade School class of 1979. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

and Nicholas Senn High School class of 1983. He went on to further his education and received an associate’s degree in electronics. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For 20 years, Michael worked with Transcore and worked on the tollway system in Illinois, where he laid the foundation tollway system in Dubai. He was also employed as a field technician at Comcast and Xfinity for 17 years.

Mike moved to Everton Indiana in 2012, which became his home.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

In his leisure time, Mike was known as a handyman who loved to stay busy. His children and his grandchildren were his life.

Mike was the type of person who would take the shirt off his own back to help a friend or family member out. He got pleasure out of helping others with their needs, as well as taking on his home improvements.  

 

 

 

Survivors include four children, Nathaniel Otake of Madison, Wisconsin, Jonathan Otake and Robert Otake, both of Connersville, and Topher Otake of Columbia, Missouri; five grandchildren, Nicholas Loveland, Destiny Jenkins, Xander Otake, Andrian Domark, and Kolson Otake; brother, Ronald (Alicia) Otake of Palantine, Illinois; sister, Linda Otake of Carapentensville, Illinois; and nephew, Cameron Otake of Palantine, Illinois.

 

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, John and Yuriko Otake; and a sister, Ruthie Otake.

A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held on Mike’s actual birthday on October 20th at Devon Church at 1630 W. Devon Ave. Chicago, IL. 60660 between 1:00-3:00 PM.
